The Beach, FL: Time for the twelve days of Christmas, sports style!
On the twelfth day of Christmas Michael Wilbon gave to me…
12 Tiger mistresses
11 point spread in the Florida-Cincinnati game…I like the Bearcats
10 Unwatchable bowl games:
Fresno State- Wyoming- How does the state of New Mexico get a bowl?
Middle Tennessee- Southern Mississippi- Who cares?
Central Florida- Rutgers- UCF will take anything they can get.
SMU- Nevada- Jim Jones returns to Hawaii with a bad team.
Marshall- Ohio University- The Thundering Herd is 6-6, come on!
UCLA- Temple- Army loses so UCLA is in.
Bowling Green- Idaho- Seriously, they are both 7-5 and the game is in Idaho.
Iowa State- Minnesota- Both are 6-6.
South Florida- Northern Illinois- South Florida loses more games late then Dallas
Kentucky- Clemson- Spiller is the only good thing about this game.
9 Tebow tears falling
8 AFC teams with a chance at the wild card, does anybody in the AFC want to go to the Playoffs. To quote Jim Mora, “PLAYOFFS, PLAYOFFS…”
7 Really good bowl match-ups
North Carolina-Pittsburgh- match up of former pro coaches and lots of talent.
Miami (FL)- Wisconsin- Orlando loves inviting Big Ten teams.
Ohio St- Oregon- Buck the Ducks!
Florida- Cincinnati- Florida loses again, ha!
Boise St- TCU- TCU rolls.
Georgia Tech- Iowa- hard fought, hard hitting game.
Alabama- Texas- Two traditional powers playing for it all.
6 Newcastle’s under the tree (it can’t always be about sports)
5 Undefeated Division I teams…..
4 Important coaching changes
Brian Kelly to the Irish.
Turner Gill to Kansas (fans have already created a firetrunergill.com website)
Charlie Strong to Louisville
Mike London to Virginia
3 Quarterback candidates for NFL MVP (Payton Manning, Drew Brees, Brett Favre)
2 point conversion (In the Ohio High School big school football state championship, Coach Brian White goes for the win and is successful. Three years earlier he did the same thing in the same game with the same result)
1 Two-time Heisman winner…Archie you are still the man!
Merry Christmas to all, my next column will be coming from sunny Pasadena, California for the Rose Bowl game.
